Oh boy… This was really it. The finale of The Bachelor was truly a mess and quite traumatic for all three parties involved. As we all now know Arie picked Becca, proposed to her in Peru and then subsequently dumped her (ON CAMERA) saying that he was still in love with Lauren and wanted to see if she would take him back. We sat through 2 hours of regular show and then another hour of their break-up only to be met with a “to be continued” moment that will catch up with all three of the afflicted (Arie, Becca and Lauren B.) tonight.
A few things:
- Do we really need this much content about the show? Do we really need the Bachelor Finale to fill up 4 hours of television regardless of how “shocking the ending?”
- What about Becca and Arie’s blissful post-engagement halo? What did the producers say to her to get her to be comfortable with the cameras shooting their weekend safe house meetings when we know that is not normal in the 20+ seasons of the show.
- Why did Arie agree to have their break-up filmed?
- Will Lauren B. be dumb enough to take him back after he not only embarrassed her but also Becca on national television… TWICE.
Back to the episode…
After the requisite meeting of the parents, Arie’s family gave the “It’s your decision” statement they all agreed that Becca was the right person to build a long life and a partnership with. Lauren B. (as we have been saying all season) needs to be constantly reassured that she is the one and pressed to be vulnerable.
From the beginning Arie has comfortable with Becca. They are equally yolked and perfectly matched. But there was just something about Lauren that kept the two of them drawn to each other.
We cover most of the demise of their relationship in the podcast, but if there was ever a moment that solidified Becca as the next Bachelorette, this was it. Let’s just get Ross and his butt back on my TV screen. That’s all I ask.
See you next season!
