Sandra Bullock. George Clooney. Outer space. Sounds like a recipe for success, right? Maybe in the box office, but not with me. I left feeling so…unsatisfied. Gravity went from zero to 100 in a matter of 10 minutes instead of really telling a good story. Oh and the fact that there were only two people in the entire movie. Like actually.
How can I explain how I felt about this movie without getting too vulgar? It’s like this: you’re with a guy or girl you really like, maybe you see him or her at a party and right away you guys start making out. Making out goes right to sex. No foreplay, no slow build, nothing. Straight to sex. And it feels good, it feels great. But there’s no climax. And you’re left feeling unsatisfied & frustrated that you didn’t get enough from that experience. Now, you can still be a virgin and know what this feeling is like — doesn’t need to be intercourse. You get what I’m trying to say here. And that’s exactly how I felt watching Gravity. There was no beginning, middle & end. I just had anxiety the entire time and enjoyed watching it but I didn’t get this feeling over me that left me feeling like woah…I’m so satisfied.
HOWEVER, I do have to say that Sandra Bullock can carry a movie like nobody’s business. Her acting was incredible and she just blows me away no matter what role she takes on. Clooney plays the same charming character he always does *insert Makayla Moroney’s not impressed face here* and I found it to be a just okay performance. I’ll call it now, Bullock is gonna snatch an Oscar nom for her performance. And if the marketing team on Gravity is any good, it’ll bank on the reviews about the acting instead of the actual story, cause let’s be real, the story line sucked. Maybe the joke’s on me though, cause this movie is making BANK at the box office.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts…xo NM
