Cory Monteith’s Death

Cory Monteith’s Death

I was on set shooting a music video when I heard about the passing of Cory Monteith. While I didn’t know Cory well, I had the pleasure of meeting him and speaking with him a few times at events. Let me tell you, he was one of sweetest & gracious celebrities I’ve come across in this industry. My heart has been filled with mixed emotions ever since.

Today it was revealed that Cory died from mixing heroin & alcohol. Can I just say WTF?! I was unaware that people still do heroin in this day & age. Cocaine? I can deal with. But heroin?! And adding alcohol to all of this…is this real life or am I dreaming here?!

There are so many reasons as to why I can’t with this. First off, he just finished another stint in rehab. Yes, I fully understand that addiction is a serious problem & that there are inner demons one must battle each and everyday. But hi, I’m pretty sure rehab gives you a phone number to call when you’re tempted to use or feel as though you’re getting off the wagon again. Secondly, at 31, you have so much to live for. You’ve created this amazing career for yourself, found the love of your life, and were surrounded by so many people who care about you. I just can’t grasp how someone can throw away their life like that.

When a person gets into this industry they have to understand that they may get famous, their life may be under a microscope, and privacy can be scarce. Don’t like it? Don’t try to make it in Hollywood. It’s that simple. Little kids will look up to you whether you like it or not and you may or not become their role model. Now what are these kids supposed to think? It’s just so heartbreaking.

I’m not some insensitive bitch, I’m just keepin’ it real…xo NM
