London’s Mad Hatter Tea Party

London’s Mad Hatter Tea Party

Hi all,

So I’ve been super busy this week, running around having London adventures with Nic sanderson tea(yay for her finally being here!) and preparing myself for my new job! All exciting times ahead…

Instead of writing up a recipe this week, Nic and I thought we would share our tea time experience with you (without giving away too much about it).

Afternoon tea is very popular in England and all of the lovely hotels in London offer it. Each hotel has its own take on how to present tea. Some go for the traditional way and some go beyond that. My favourite by far is the experience at the Sanderson Hotel. It’s a Mad Hatter themed Tea Party, so when Nic said she wanted afternoon tea, I had to take her!

Upon arrival we were given complimentary champagne, which was a fabulous way to start tea time!

We were then given tea flavour options, specially blended by the hotel itself:
– Apple Pie
– Mint Chocolate
– Rhubarb & Custard
– Strawberries & Cream
…of course we also had the normal and expected tea/coffee selection but with such different flavours on offer we were all about those.

Next, our tea stand was bought over. A mixture of fun looking tasty treats, both sweet and savoury.

Nic and I dug in, trying a bit of everything. We definitely discovered some yummy favourites along the way:
– Zesty Lemon Bread, filled with Egg Mayonnaise
– Spinach Bread, filled with Cucumber & Cream cheese
– Strawberries & Cream flavoured Marshmellow Mushrooms
– Chocolate Tea Cups, filled with Green Tea & White Chocolate flavoured Mousse (with a hint of Popping Candy…yum!)
-Scones (sweet & savoury)
– ‘Drink Me’ Potion

sanderson teaI must say that the Drink Me‘ Potion was definitely a great way to finish tea. A potion layered with different flavours intending to cleanse the pallet. The flavour changed from Passion Fruit, to Pineapple, to Coconut, and as you drank more they blended together.

Throughout the afternoon we had different teas, experienced many flavours and were looked after wonderfully by our waiter. We also fell in love with the sugar cube box. It was a Musical Trousselier with a cute Ballerina inside. Couldn’t stop playing the music!

Like with the world of Alice in Wonderland, everything was magical and some of it beyond our belief…the presentation was stunning and we recommend it to all.

It may not be Bougie On A Budget approved, but it’s definitely worth the splurge!

xo Elyse
