You’ve all heard the phrase about surrendering to the things you cannot control:
I’ve had a really big battle with this. Why? Because obviously I am a control freak. I’ve always been in control of my life, I’ve always had a plan, and I’ve always fought hard for whatever I wanted – in all aspects of my world.
After a few recent conversations with my peers, I realized that so many of us like to have our lives perfectly calculated, perfectly planned.
But boy, oh boy, does the universe have other plans for us. Plans out of our control.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Find the things in your life that you can control and do so. Realize the things in your life that you can’t control and surrender.
I’m learning to pick and choose my battles. Life is not a game of chess; you can’t calculate every move. It just doesn’t work that way. When you learn to surrender yourself to the things you simply just cannot control, the world will open up to you and you will live in a more peaceful mindset. Take it from me, because I’ve definitely been trying!
When you spend your life trying to micromanage every little thing around you, you tend to miss out on the small and beautiful moments. Don’t forget to take a step back sometimes and evaluate where you are.
Live and let go.
