MORAvational Monday: The Skin You’re In

Today’s MORAvational Monday is inspired by Gigi Hadid, funny enough. No, I don’t know her personally – just in case anyone was wondering! The super model posted this message on Instagram this morning:

Her message made me want to talk about loving the skin you’re in because in this era where we are all glued to the digital world, it’s easy to get caught up in body image. I’m so guilty of it! I often find myself on Instagram trying to get some fitspo (fitness inspiration) and feeling so self conscious after seeing all these models. It’s totally normal to feel this way, but we need to learn to love the skin we’re in.

For me, my weight as always fluctuated. I’ve always been active, but my body isn’t built like a super model — most of us don’t have that luxury. I’m Middle Eastern which means I’ve got curves and genetically, a little more to love! It’s been hard appreciating my body, especially working in the entertainment industry where having a good figure is EVERYTHING. Plenty of people have commented on my weight and size. It’s so hard to not let it affect you.

But you have to find the things you love about your body. No one else has your body except YOU. That’s kind of crazy if you think about it. No one knows what it feels like to be in your body. And that’s special. What’s helped me is acknowledging that I may not be the skinniest girl out there, but I am healthy. I work out and for the most part, eat pretty healthy. My body is my body. I can’t change it drastically without plastic surgery. I have a butt, thighs and curves. That’s what makes me me

Find the things that make you different, treat your body right, and celebrate the body you were given!
