I may be a tad old fashioned but I strongly believe in having good manners & etiquette. Someone had tweeted out this article & I just couldn’t help but share it with you all. I’ve found that people really lack consideration for one another because so many of us are taught just to worry about ourselves and that’s it. No wonder the world is so f*cked up lately!
Read this article, learn it, and practice it people! Don’t be late, learn to introduce yourselves, and have common courtesy (which isn’t so common if you think about it). I admit, I’m guilty of honking my horn way too many time thanks to my road rage, but I’m trying to be better I promise! But, I also know better than to text while I’m having a face-to-face conversation. Literally, I will be mid-convo with someone, they’ll bust out their phones and start texting! Uh, excuse me? I need to feel like I have your full attention. RUDE. And 9 times out of 10, I’ll probably call you out on it and tell you how disrespectful it is.
Oh, and please don’t be a fool and not acknowledge a death because you feel awkward. When my grandfather died in January, I had an ex who didn’t even bother to reach out to me. I’ve honestly never hated anyone more for not reaching out to see how I’m doing. It’s just plain rude & it hurts. Make sure to be sensitive, reach out every now and then, and just be there for that person. Starting a fight while someone is in mourning is probably not the best idea either. The world doesn’t revolve around you or me, it’s give and take. So be respectful, know when to shut your mouth, & check in.
Don’t you worry, I practice what I preach 😉 xo NM
