Closing The Chapter

Closing The Chapter

Life is a lot like reading a book — there are chapters you breeze through, ones that excite you, ones that spark Next-chaptersomething in you, and ones that you can’t get through so you just keep reading it over and over again.

The year is coming to an end and it’s a perfect time to think about the chapters you’ve been stuck on.

How do you close the chapter when you’re not ready?

Truth is, if we wait until we’re ready for anything in life, we’ll always find a reason as to why we are not ready. That moment of being ready will never come.

You have to force yourself to push forward.

I was stuck on the same chapter teetering back and forth from page to page for so long. Literally a year. A whole fucking year of my time that could have been spent LIVING instead of just floating. I didn’t know how to just say ‘okay, I’m done here.’ For me, it was waking up one morning and making a point to move forward each day. It was being spontaneous and hopping on a plane to France & London for 3 weeks. I know not everyone has that luxury, but you have to find what works for you, what is going to help you, and what can allow you to move forward.

Revisit this patch in your life — maybe there were things that went wrong, things that could have gone differently, or maybe your life went perfectly this year — everyone is different. Acknowledge what went wrong and what went right and find ways to keep going.

Because that’s all you can really do: keep going.
You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.
So, in conjunction with the gratitude challenge, I’m also making a promise to move forward every single day. That means dedicating an hour a day to do something for myself that feeds me such as a work out or a walk by the beach or free-writing pieces not for this site.

I would love to read about what you all do to make yourself a priority.
